About Us
It’s not always easy making the right choices when it comes to eating healthy but our wish is that we can help lead you in the right direction. We work normal day jobs and we aren’t claiming to be professionally trained cooks or nutritionist. However, our hearts lie in our upbringings and we truly believe that food is the first start to a healthy future.
Our hope is that our unique food journey encourages you to make healthy changes in your life as well. From our family to yours… Enjoy!

I have always had the love of cooking in my soul. I grew up in a Greek home where food is not only for nourishment but for the love of gathering with family and friends. I learned to cook many of the family Greek recipes with my mother, grandmother, and aunts, as it seemed we were always hosting holidays or gatherings at our house. They always made it seem so easy to whip up a feast in no time. I knew even back then that when I had a family of my own I wanted to continue the same traditions with my children.
After my husband’s second heart surgery I knew we had to make a change and as the primary cook for our family, I knew it needed to start with me. We rid our house of all processed foods, cereals, cookies, candy (you name it!) and began our path toward a heart healthy lifestyle. I knew I needed to focus my cooking on more of the traditional dishes I grew up with, relying on a strong concentration of Mediterranean influences.CEO
As our journey pursued I started creating and sharing these dishes with my daughter and son, as they too have a love for cooking. In fact, my daughter had been experimenting with the idea of creating a food blog ever since she and her husband got their eating habits on a more health conscious regimen.
Even though we do not live in the same area, we always share our ideas with one another through pictures and face timing. It just seemed logical that the next step was creating a space for us to share our recipes and ideas… and thus “Heart Healthy Greek“ was born!

I started to notice it more and more when my husband and I lived in NYC and it was so much easier to just get takeout or go out to eat as our lives were very hectic. Even though we thought we were eating somewhat healthy, we spent many a Saturday afternoon indulging in a bag of chips and candy while watching tv. Three years ago we moved back to Ohio and we both made the choice to change our habits. I wanted to get back to my roots and begin cooking and eating healthier, as my family did back as far as I can remember. We recently relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and have carried our healthy eating habits with us.
Eating and cooking locally grown fresh ingredients daily made me think deeper about the foods I was putting into my body and how it made me feel afterward. That combined with watching a few documentaries such as “Forks Over Knives” and “What The Health” inspired me to take the steps to make a change. Shortly thereafter my husband and I decided to make a lifestyle change and tried to cook and eat a more plant-based diet throughout the weekdays.
As I started to cook more at home I not only got better at cooking, it suddenly stopped being a chore and became fun! Now with my new found passion, I try to incorporate not only our greek heritage but other culturally inspired foods into many of my everyday dishes and recipes.
